The group includes a handwritten draft and a typed transcript of Aldrich's manuscript entitled "Brief reminiscences of the soldiers life on the plains and in the mountains during the early days of 1867-8-9 to 70." This memoir discusses Aldrich's experiences serving as an army scout in Nebraska and Wyoming at forts along the route of the Union Pacific Railroad construction. Aldrich was assigned to Fort Laramie, Fort Russell, Fort Fetterman, and Fort Kearny. He describes his regiment's skirmishes with the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Sioux Indians, as well as their dealings with the Pawnee scouts. Aldrich also talks about a treaty with Chief Red Cloud, his relationship with Major Frank J. North and Captain Luther H. North, and an expedition into the Yellowstone River Valley. Also included are several pieces of correspondence, certificates, and discharge papers related to Aldrich's military career and his duties for the National Indian War Veterans

The suggestion was rejected, and Caywood was informed in a letter form Spence Price of the Suggestion Committee; memo on cost containment, 1988, and a flyer for the "Pull Together Sweepstakes (related to cost containment); an example of the "What is your suggestion?" form (in triplicate); other memos and material on the suggestion system.

The Dixon Manual for Metal Artists

One art instruction book entitled The Dixon Manual for Metal Artists: Designs, Complete Instructions, Illustrated Work Sheets, published by William Dixon Incorporated, Newark, New Jersey, copyright 1937. This 30-leaf portfolio is comprised of 19 illustrated project sheets and 10 pages of guidelines and instructions to accompany the projects. The first leaf of the portfolio contains general prefatory matter. The projects are designed to be "suitable for both beginners and advanced" metal workers. Some of them include: a rectangular box, an ashtray, a candy dish, a candlestick holder, bookends and jewelry. Each of the project sheets and the instructional sheets are numbered; 2-30. The portfolio is orange with black lettering and design. A small, nearly-square image of a man hand-tooling a metal cup is below the title on the front cover. The back cover and the insides of the covers are blank.
