The account books record personal expenditure and the finances for Wood's estate from 1696 to 1736. It details payments to servants and agricultural laborers, gardeners, saddlers, carpenters, the keeper of the hunting house, a butler, housemaid, coopers and expenditures on horses and livestock. Personal expenditures include: money given to his wife and children, chartable gifts, school fees, clothing, medical and physician's fees, food, wine, and the purchase of miscellaneous household items such as candles and soap. The volumes also contain medicinal remedies by Wood.

This collection contains medical and pharmaceutical documents from Thomas Green and his son John Green as well as accounts with a weaver and cobbler. The medical and pharmaceutical documents include a 1753-1754 manuscript from Thomas Green likely to help train his son and other physicians. This document contains original pharmaceutical recipes and procedures for ailments from gunpowder wounds to cancers, many of which incorporated Indigenous peoples practices of using local and native plants for medicinal purposes. The medical case histories cover various patients, including women as well as information about an epidemic that broke out in the spring of 1754. The medical account book from John Green covers the last year of the Seven Years' War while military troops were stationed in Worchester, Massachusetts.

This account book includes patient names and fees paid for medical treatment from 1851 to 1881. The author is unknown but might be in Ohio. There is some mention of the treatment performed and reason for visit such as: childbirth, prescriptions of medicine, treatment of wounds, and even some dental work. There are 23 pages of newspaper clippings from newspapers in Ohio (the clippings are sometimes glued over the medical information). The clippings include poems and short articles, many of which are written by Thomas C. Harbaugh, a writer from Ohio. The clippings are from 1895 to 1897. Several pages have been cut-out of the volume.

James Hervey Simpson letter to Josiah Simpson

An autograph, signed letter from James Hervey Simpson to his brother Dr. Josiah Simpson, with envelope. The letter was written three weeks before the 1864 election and Simpson is responding to his brother's concern that it is "injudicious" for him to become involved in presidential politics. Simpson had contributed a long letter to the anti-McClellan pamphlet "Gen'l McClellan's Record. His Sympathy with the South," (1864) a publication attributed to Edgar Conkling. The letter is accompanied by two items which quote Simpson's views on McClellan: a copy of this 1864 pamphlet, with edits by Simpson, and a newspaper clipping from the "Cincinnati Daily Times" with Simpson's letter to the editor (November 12, 1864).

Misc. records and accounts that Dr. Hammet entered in in January - May 1861 (ff. 1-21 v., 61-62); October 1862 - August 1863 (42-46, 49, 59, 66 v.) and July - November 1865 (ff. 22- 31 v, 40, 42, 46 v., 57-58) The entries list his patients' names, medicines and treatments administered, and fees received. Dr. Hammet's clientelle consisted mainly of local families and their slaves and employees of the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Company. The patients include John Wyn Davidson, Gabriel C. Wharton, "Capt. Ward No. 1 Hospital Camp case," "William, slave of Miss Virinia Allen," "Wyatt slave of Miss Lettinch hire to Bob Buchner," "Dick, slave of Col. Garnett," and others. At the end of the book (ff. 70 v. - 71), there is a summary of the accounts of "D. Barnett" from July 1853 to Apr. 1859 and the 1860 accounts with the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Company (f. 73 v.).
