Harry Chandler letter written to Eddie Mannix of MGM Studios asking him to meet for a luncheon of "considerable civic importance," taking place on February 18, 1941, at the Board of Directors Room in the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, "about which your advice and cooperation is needed." Eddie Mannix was known as a "fixer" who covered for Hollywood stars' indiscretions to protect the reputation of the film studio. Written on Los Angeles Times letterhead and signed by Harry Chandler.

The Army-Navy YMCA building, in San Pedro, California, was completed in 1926. It is now a nursing home called the Harbor View House. The letter is addressed to T. A. Russell and signed by Harry Chandler, E. P. Clark, George Cochran, George L. Eastman, F. E. Eckhart, Maynard McFie, and Seeley W. Mudd.

Two of the five items are reports written by Chandler, and addressed to Major William Augustus Nichols, detailing his expedition to the Gila River in 1856 with the U.S. 3rd Infantry. These reports include details regarding his experiences with the Mimbres and Mogollon Apaches, the geography of the land, military movements, his troops and their casualties. He specifically mentions Dixon Stansbury Miles, Lieutenant Colonel John H. Eaton, the Navajo Indian Delgadito, and Fort Craig, NM. Also included in these documents is a disability certification by Assistant Surgeon General Glover Perin, a power of attorney from a fellow soldier, and a Quarter Master Department receipt for $100,000

The collection is composed of correspondence and literary manuscripts of Anglo-Irish author Elizabeth Bowen. All the manuscripts and over one hundred letters in the collection were penned by Bowen. The correspondence concerns publishing arrangements for Bowen's works in progress during the years 1944-1946, discussions of her writing and the writing of other authors, and references to her wartime writing for the British Council and other agencies.
