    An autograph manuscript of Edmund Fanning's memoir "Voyages round the world...;" it includes a title page, introduction, and chapters I-XXV. The manuscript is written in both pen and pencil, on various sizes of paper, with corrections and additions; it is incomplete with some chapters missing. In addition to the manuscript, there are unidentified supplementary autograph notes and a draft of Fanning's proposal to Congress for the opening of trade with New South Wales.

    An autograph manuscript of the novel "Born in Exile," written between the years 1891-1892; with the original title "Godwin's Peak" crossed out on the first page. The novel deals with the themes of class, religion, love, and marriage and the premise of the novel is drawn from Gissing's early life.The manuscript contains additions and corrections by Gissing, with additional notes in pencil possibly by Gissing; the manuscript is made up of unbound, loose pages. The manuscript is housed in a brown morocco slipcase, with gold-tooled title and author's name on the spine.
