The collection consists of letters and documents (including 8 volumes) and 876 maps related to irrigation projects in the western United States. There are correspondence, reports, etc. regarding Colorado River projects (including the Colorado River-Los Angeles Gravity Flow Aqueduct); the Klamath Lake Project in Oregon; the Merced Irrigation District in California; the San Juan River, Little Colorado, and Verde projects in Arizona; and many others. Of note in the collection are diaries of La Rue's Colorado River trips from 1921, 1922, and 1924, and maps of western areas.

Howard and Alice Reynolds correspondence

The majority of this collection is made up of letters by Howard Reynolds to Alice Reeves Reynolds both before and after their marriage in 1903 (1894-1921), although there is half of a box of letters by Alice to Howard (1901-1911). In these letters, one can follow their courtship and marriage. Howard often talks about his business and his travels (especially throughout the American west) and Alice talks about her life as a teacher, social events, trips, health, etc. There are a several other letters by various family members and friends including Howard's father George W. Reynolds, Alice's sister Carrie Reeves Slaydon, and a fellow traveling salesman working with Howard, Karl H. Vesper. The collection also contains a few pieces of ephemera, some invoices from the Baker Underwear Company, and many empty envelopes. There are also transcripts of many of the letters, but not all.

The collection consists of Elizabeth Jane Howard's manuscripts, correspondence, photographs and ephemera. The manuscripts cover the entire span of her writing career and include her major novels, as well as articles, essays, plays, short stories, book reviews, and interviews. In some cases there are multiple drafts of a work, enabling a researcher to trace Howard's creative process. The correspondence includes personal letters and letters related to Howard's work. The collection holds over 800 photographs and seven boxes of printed ephemera.
