    The bound volume has limp vellum covers, with some damage to the spine. The family material (18th-20th centuries) contains information about the Dering Motto, Crest and Arms, a printed auction catalogue for the sale of the "Contents of the Mansion Surrenden..." (1928), a printed handlist of Dering MS (U1107), and disbound scrapbook pages of printed clippings, pictures, family and genealogical history; with a few autograph and typewritten notes and letters.

    A register covering April 1702 - April 1704, containing copies of dispatches, orders, sailing instructions, correspondence, etc. between the Admiralty and Captain Christopher Myngs while the latter was in command of, successively, the "St. Michael," "Victory," and "Lancaster." The register contains entries written in several hands; with 316 pages followed by 1 blank page then reversed and beginning at the other end of the volume for 11 pages (there are a few additional blank pages throughout the volume). With the bookplate of Sir Thomas Miller, [5th] Baronet on inside front cover. Please note the volume is in fragile condition: the spine and boards are loose and damaged with additional damage to the leather covers; an unknown number of pages are missing from the beginning and end of the volume.

    Sailing and Fighting Instructions or Signalls Observed in her Majesties Royall Navy with the Coulours worne at sea by most Nations

    An early 18th century volume containing hand-drawn and colored drawings of flags and signals to be used by the English at sea; the volume was possibly made for or by a Flag Lieutenant. The flags include those used to signal other English ships and those used by nations, empires, or merchant companies; each colored flag is accompanied by a detailed description. The volume has worn brown leather covers with a damaged spine.

    This is apparently the original catalogue of King Charles I and King Charles II's printed books and manuscripts in the library at St. James's Palace; the volume also formerly owned by Colonel Lovelace in the 17th century. The volume is bound in red morocco leather; at each corner of the central panel and on the back are crowns with the letters C.C. intertwined. There are additional blank pages at the beginning and end of the volume, with some minimal insect damage; with modern autograph notes in pencil on the first page.

    Volume of letters written to Charles Edward Tisdall

    A bound volume of letters and autographs from eminent contemporaries, the majority addressed to Tisdall; there are also clippings and printed material. Tisdall often included biographical notes and information about each letter writer; the inside front cover has the bookplate of "Rev Doctor Tisdall" and the title page contains the notes and signatures of Bertram Forsyth, English actor and dramatist. Please note: a previous owner cut and tore numerous pages from the volume so from an original total of 84 pages only 38 remain; the spine and corners have some damage.
