  A collection of 336 items from 1681 to 1847, it consists of the political and personal correspondence of Timothy Pitkin: letters addressed to him and drafts of his letters. The correspondence discusses various political, diplomatic, and economic topics, including the Thomas Jefferson-Aaron Burr election; impeachment of Samuel Chase; foreign policy; the War of 1812; the Hartford convention; presidential elections; Louisiana affairs; commerce; banking; internal revenue; and patent legislation. Also included are letters related to Pitkin's historical studies. Correspondents include John Quincy Adams, Simon Baldwin, Theodore Dwight, Chauncey Goodrich, Bela Hubbard, William Stedman, John Treadwell, Eli Whitney, and others. Also included are a few earlier items, apparently from the files of William Pitkin (1694-1769) who was the colonial governor of Connecticut and grandfather of Timothy Pitkin.John Quincy Adams letters to Timothy Pitkin are dated 1817 September 1, 1819 April 28, 1827 February 13, 1831 August 18, 1837 April 22 (PI 1-5).

Written by Emma Seegmiller Higbee, the daughter of Charles Negus Carroll, it covers the entirety of his life; his conversion to Mormonism in New Hampshire in 1853, his family's difficult journey to Utah, frontier and pioneer life in Utah, and life in Heber City and Orderville.

Trumbull, his childhood occupations (including caring for cattle and horses, running his father's mill, and driving oxen), lumber hauling, the death of his father, his work on Tobe Whitmore's cattle ranch, his travels throughout Utah, his romance with Effie Woolley, his mission work in the midwestern United States and California, and his travels throughout California including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Bernardino.

  Brief biographical sketch of Hans Hansen (1862-1953) by his daughter, Gertrude Hansen Standage. Traces significant events in Hansen's life, including the early death of his mother and his upbringing by his grandmother, with whom he sold vegetables to make a living; his 1879 move to Arizona with his father; his 1885 marriage to Loretta Ellsworth in St. Geroge, Utah; and his 1902-1904 Mormon mission to Denmark. Also includes an account of Hansen avoiding hostile Indians to deliver a letter to Fort Apache and a brief description of Standage's grandparents, the Ellsworths (parents of Loretta Ellsworth).
