A collection of letters written by Robert Southey to William Taylor, British scholar, essayist, and translator. The collection also includes two letters to James Everett and a letter by John Warden Robberds. Three of the letters by Southey include autograph copies of his poems, "The Wedding," "Inscription Under an Oak," and "King Ramiro." The letters discuss many of the important people of the period including, among others, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Sir Humphry Davy, Charles Lamb, Walter Savage Landor, Napoleon I, Sir Walter Scott, and William Wordsworth. Also included is the original separated binding, with the William K. Bixby bookplate; all of the material in the collection is still window-mounted on paper.

The collection consists of 110 letters from Walter Savage Landor; 95 are to his sister, Elizabeth Landor, and 15 are to his niece, Sophy Landor. There are also 35 letters from Elizabeth Landor to Walter Savage Landor and three from Sophy Landor to Walter Savage Landor. The collection also contains correspondence to and from Sophy Landor and others (98 pieces) about the affairs of Walter Savage Landor from 1858 and after. There are also a few manuscripts, and press clippings of Landor's poems and about the libel case, Yescombe v. Landor in 1858.

Subject matter includes William Sotheby and his writings, contemporary writers and his friends, and European travel. The collection also contains five poems by Sotheby. The collection consists of manuscripts by Partington, James Agate, Jessie Conrad, R. B. Cunninghame Grahame, John Kirkby, and H. D. C. Pepler; these manuscripts include articles, essays, personal narratives, poems, and short stories. The correspondence mainly relates to Partington's work with the Bookman's journal, his books about Sir Walter Scott, and his various literary endeavors. The main subjects of these letters reflect the work and interests of Partington, including bibliography, forgery, and the authors Joseph Conrad, Sir Walter Scott, William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde and Thomas James Wise. There are also letters by Partington, mainly carbon copies, and a small group of letters from his family and friends. The collection also includes his research files and a small amount of ehpemera.

Bayard Taylor letters
Manuscripts
A small group of letters primarily by noted author Bayard Taylor. Of these, most are written to his sister Emma Taylor Lamborn; others are written to his mother Rebecca Way Taylor, his brother-in-law Charles B. Lamborn, and friends including Edmund Clarence Stedman. Other letters include (1) by C. C. Clarke, (1) by George William Curtis, and (1) by Rebecca Way Taylor. This group also includes a few miscellaneous items, notably a photograph of Emma Taylor Lamborn, and a signed engraving of Bayard Taylor.
