A micrographic drawing of Marie Anne Victorie, the Dauphine of France on a horse-drawn chariot surrounded by illustrations of allegorical figures. Images include an angel, a lion with a royal crest, cherubs, and a man symbolizing Hercules. The drawing is formed entirely of microscopic text from an accompanying volume containing 221 folios of an Italian poem by Ignatio Francesco Muligin honoring the Dauphine. The drawing's letters are read horizontally with a microscope or magnifying glass. The volume is in contemporary binding of red morocco with gilt spine and edges. Drawing possibly illustrated by Pierre Mignard (1612-1695), and volume bound by Bernard Bernache (active 1684-1721).

This volume of approximately 600 pages is a selection of letters transcribed by Edmond Malone from the mid-18th century Birch MS 4173 (British Library) volume; the letters are descriptive of the life and times of James I, his court and the political intrigues of the day. There are references to, among others: Sir Francis Bacon, Sir Edward Coke, Sir Walter Raleigh, the death of Henry, Prince of Wales, the divorce of the Earl of Essex and Lady Frances Howard, and the Gunpowder Plot; Malone also adds many explanatory notes to the original manuscript. The volume has a brown calf binding with "MS. Malone Papers, 1608-1613" on the spine, which is slightly damaged.

Southern Pacific Railroad receipt book

A receipt book for Southern Pacific Railroad shipping of agricultural products from California throughout the United States; the receipt book was used mainly by agent J. P. Onstott at the Yuba City and Marysville, California, stations. The book is made up of 3-part, tri-color, duplicate shipping receipts; only the first portion is completed with shipments from 1900 September to 1908 October. The volume lists shipments of raisins, grapes, and currants to San Francisco and Sacramento, California; Omaha, Nebraska; Denver, Colorado; Chicago, Illinois; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Portland, Oregon; and Seattle, Washington. The receipt book also provides shipping prices during the time when the Southern Pacific Railroad dictated shipping rates because of its monopoly of railroad shipping in California. The volume has a rough weave, stained, cloth binding, with "So. Pacific R. R. Co." stamped in black on the front cover; the name "J. P. Onstott / Yuba City, Ca." is written in pencil. The spine is damaged with loss at the top and bottom, but the pages are still tightly bound; the inside front cover has the name "A. Simi / Roma winery" written in pencil.

This collection consists of an autograph album containing handwritten notes, letters, poems, and drawings by approximately 200 friends and acquaintances of American author Charles Warren Stoddard, including leading American literary figures, journalists, poets, critics, politicians, and actors of the late 19th century. Among the many notable contributors are Samuel Clemens, Bret Harte, and Joaquin Miller. The earliest item in the book is an 1863 dedication by Thomas Starr King, and continues with contributions primarily from members of San Francisco literary society beginning in the mid-to-late 1860s through the late 1890s, as well as from friends in other locales where Stoddard lived or traveled including Louisville, Kentucky; Washington, D.C.; Massachusetts; New York; and Hawaii. A letter from L.C. Bayles (page 23) introduces lines of verse with the note "in accordance with your request," reflecting Stoddard's curation of the album as a compendium of verse and personal sentiments tailored towards friendships and literary musings. The volume includes two photographs of groups of men and women, captioned, "Riverdale, N.Y., July 4th 1890" (page 116). The contents are handwritten on blank pages in an "Album" published by Leavitt & Allen, consisting of 241 pages including an engraved title page and frontispiece and [8] other engraved plates with illustrations by Creswick, W.H. Bartlett, W. Tombleson; J. Smillie and T. Addison Richards; engravings by J. Sartain; J. Bannister; Rawdon, Wright, Hatch & Smillie; J. White; and C.T. Giles. Edges gilt.
