Series 6J: Getty Trust

This series consists of materials related to the Getty Trust and other Getty affiliated institutions and programs. Robert Erburu was a trustee of the Getty Trust from 1987-2000, became ex-oficio member of the Getty Board in 1998, and Trustee Chairman from 1993-2000. In addition to meeting minutes, financial statements, and other corporate correspondence, the series includes papers documenting significant events including the construction of the Getty Center and renovation of the Getty Villa. Papers also document the evolving contract and responsibilities of Harold M. Williams, the Getty Trust's first president and CEO (1981-1998), as well as the presidential search and succession of Barry Munitz (1998-2006). Other materials include budget reports; travel itineraries; curators' condition reports for potential acquisitions; institution-generated publications and news releases; and numerous articles referring to the Getty Center or its employees.

This series contains materials related to the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens. Robert Erburu served on the Huntington Board of Overseers from 1976-1981. His service extended as a Trustee member in 1981 and then as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Items include clippings, meeting minutes, annual reports, newsletters, pamphlets, and correspondence.

Manuscripts
This series includes materials relating to Robert Erburu's personal life and interests. The bulk of the series consists of newspapers, article clippings, and newsletters; these materials are grouped according to subject matter such as clubs, culture, journalism, religion, etc. Other records consist of personal correspondence, Christmas cards, family photographs, financial materials, and books. These materials range from 1956-1996. Two folders compiled in 1996 list the organizations Robert Erburu was involved with professionally or philanthropically, his position with those organizations, and other related information. Of additional interest is the pre-publication typed manuscript of Morris West's A View from the Ridge: The Testimony of a Twentieth-century Pilgrim (1996). Erburu also collected newspapers documenting the California Southland Fires of 1993, and the World Series 'Quake of 1989.

Robert Erburu was the founding co-chair of the PCIP Board of Director from 1995-1997. He served as Chairman from 1995-2005. Materials include correspondence, meeting minutes, and reports.
