    Robert Erburu Papers

    Manuscripts

The bulk of the Robert Erburu Papers is corporate and financial administration papers, reflecting the concerns of Times Mirror Company initiatives, as well as those of the non-profit institutions with which Erburu participated. The collection contains correspondence, newspapers, clippings, press releases, annual reports, calendars, photographs, videos, cassettes, books, pamphlets, and other materials documenting Robert Erburu's personal, corporate, and charitable involvement within the Southern California region. The collection is currently housed within 771 boxes. The papers span 1953 to 2007. Erburu's corporate activity within Times Mirror is documented from the mid-1980s through the mid-1990s. The papers recording Erburu's involvement with other non-corporate organizations range from the mid-1980s to 2007. The bulk of the material is textual with the exception of some non-paper items (see Series 9, Special Format). The Robert Erburu Papers were created, maintained, and collected by Robert Erburu, then arranged by his administrative assistants at Times Mirror Company and private archivists. Due to the unexpected death of Erburu's assistant in 1985, records from this time may be in some disarray. Within the series, the majority of pre-1995 materials were arranged according to subject by previous archivists and personal assistants, while the majority of post-1995 materials have been arranged by date by The Huntington. Duplication of correspondence and newspaper clippings may be seen throughout the collection.
