Notes on Casual Fines in Chancery. "The Pretended casuall fines vpon writts of Debt, Trespasse and such like haue beene receaved and enjoyed by the Chancellors of England, and keepers of the Great Seale, and by the Masters of the Rolles and Cursitors of the High Court of Chancery, time without all memory of man for many ages togeather". They had been questioned in the times of several of the Chancellors - "twice in the time of that graue and wise Counsellor the late L. Ellesmere" - but the matter had been fully answered: with a note of observations by Sir Nicholas Bacon
