Miscellaneous letters and correspondence of Samuel Ryan Curtis, chiefly letters addressed to him, documenting his political, and military career. The collection includes: letters and newspapers clippings related to 1860 presidential elections and Curtis' own campaign, including the tallies for various Iowa counties; correspondence related to his removal from the Dept. of Missouri in 1863, including a lengthy letter from Jacob Brinkerhoff to his brother Henry B. Curtis, describing his meeting with Abraham Lincoln regarding the case (1863, Nov. 11), and letters to Curtis from his friends and colleagues.

Sallie Ryan diaries

The collection consists of 33 items including 25 volumes of diaries and journals from 1910 to 1944 kept by Sallie Ryan. They describe her life in Seattle, Washington during World War I while three sons were in the service, the death from influenza of her fourth son Russell, and her life in Los Angeles, California, after 1919. There are also 2 letters, 2 telegrams, and a biographical sketch, with photographs, of Sallie Ryan.

Collection consists of 53 letters written by Reuben Curtis Edgerton between October 1861 and June 1862. Edgerton addressed 52 of the letters to his wife Lydia O. Edgerton, nee Tiffany, and one letter to his daughter Ellen Edgerton. In his letters, Edergton describes a soldier's life and medical and sanitary affairs during the American Civil War from 1861-1862. Thirty-six of the letters were written while Edgerton was stationed in Hannibal, Pleasant, and Commerce, Missouri. Other letters originated from Tennessee, Mississippi, and New York.

A collection of family correspondence containing 110 items, the letters are chiefly to Delia Augusta and Sarah Henrietta Curtis from their brothers. The letters include discussion of the Curtis sisters' studies and education, family news, the Civil War, life in Ohio, Tennessee, Arizona, and California, from 1820 to 1892; also included are a few letters of Henry James and Clarissa Fisher Curtis. The collection also contains a typewritten summary and outline of the Curtis family letters (1984) and ephemera.
