Manuscripts
This small group of material consists of a biography, a book jacket, an autograph inscription, and an interview with Marquis and dates from 1921-1988. HM 83911 (a): The biography, possibly unpublished, is related to a journalist's visit to Marquis in the 1930s. HM 83911 (b): A book jacket for Archy and Mehitabel published in 1933. HM 83911 (c): The inscription for best wishes is addressed to F.W. Skiff and dated December 1921. HM 83911 (d): The interview with Marquis was conducted by Don H. Kennedy, who failed to take any notes during the interview in June 1931. At the conclusion of the interview, Marquis sat down at his typewriter and typed out two pages of questions and answers to aid Kennedy. Included with the manuscript is a typewritten letter signed by Kennedy recounting his interview with Marquis, as well as a photocopy of a letter Marquis wrote him on July 3, 1931, after the interview was published.

A boy dressed in knickerbockers and a sweater works a camera on a tripod, while a similarly dressed boy kneels on the ground and points to the guns.

Belle H. Seager letter to Henry E. Huntington
Manuscripts
Letter to Henry Huntington asking for his aid to enable the Pasadena Boy Scouts to aid French boys to attend summer camp. She relates that the atmosphere created in the Boy Scout organization is extremely beneficial to boys in the devastated areas and to France in general. She goes on to relate the good work the Committee had undertaken under the direction of Miss Jesse Carson and is enclosing a copy of the report in hopes that he has time to read it. Mrs. Seager writes that she would appreciate any aid of suggestions Mr. Huntington might have and gives Mrs. Howard Huntington as a reference concerning the work of the Committee. Mrs. Seager writes that she will be away all summer in New England on Committee business, but her correspondence will be handled by Dr, George E. Hale's secretary. She asks for a short interview with Mr. Huntington when she returns in the fall. Letter is on American Committee for Devastated France letterhead.

Two newspaper clippings from the Gloucester Daily Times, 1933, concerning a float made in Rockport, Massachusetts for the American Legion Parade in Chicago. The first newspaper clipping is dated Thursday, September 21, 1933, and includes a picture of the float below the title "Rockport's contribution to Legion Convention will depict atmosphere of seaport town." The second clipping, dated Wednesday, October 4, 1933, contains the same image of the float under the headline "Cape Ann float awarded first place." Title supplied by cataloger.
