Recipes are accompanied by many photographs of people and architectural details of the Charleston area.

A collection of letters and legal documents of Aaron Burr, Louis Le Guen, and Thomas Ludlow Ogden, chiefly regarding the loan granted by Le Guen to Burr in 1799 and settling of accounts from 1805 to 1820. Also included are a few items pertaining to the Le Guen vs. Gouverneur and Kemble court case, including Burr's letter to Alexander Hamilton (November 15, 1803), and another case handled by Burr on Le Guen's behalf. Other correspondents include Cadwallader R. Colden, Charles Leggett, and Le Guen's wife, Mary Hylton Le Guen.

HM 81548: The first volume, written in ink, consists of miscellaneous reports prepared by Frank West. The volume begins with a report about a transportation march from Camp Supply, Indian Territory to Fort Clark, Texas in 1873. West meticulously details the journey of the cavalry including length of travel, rivers crossed, and personal remarks. "Our wagon was [?] in the quick sand at the crossing of the Red River men were disseminated and applied to ropes attached to the wagon and it was drawn out" (p. 2). The total distance of their march was 1,371 miles, which took 74 days. The next two reports are about the murder of Jacob Dilsey in 1873. Other reports include number of utility poles erected in Arizona and confidential statements and endorsements about various Army personnel. Also included are briefs from Fort Niobrara, Nebraska and Fort Myer, Virginia. The last portion of the volume appears to be excerpts from a history book concerning Europe, Asia, and the Middle East during the 19th century. The endpapers have miscellaneous notes and account information written on them.

The collection consists of personal letters among the Townshend family members, business correspondence, land papers and deeds, financial accounts, bonds, receipts, Government and political material, legal briefs and court opinions, literary material including epitaphs, poems, prayers and travel accounts, military material, wills, marriage settlements, family account books and diaries. Significant correspondents include George III, George IV, William IV and Victoria, as well as many members of the Royal family. Political correspondents include 1st Earl of Chatham, W.E. Gladstone, George Grenville, Lord Palmerston, Sir Robert Peel, Spencer Perceval, William Pitt, the Duke of Wellington, and John Wilkes. Important note: although this material includes the years 1769-1865 there is only one letter which refers slightly to the American Revolutionary War and no letters or other material deal with the American Civil War.
