    One drawing book entitled A New Series of First Class Drawing Copies, published by J. Cooke & Sons, London, ca. 1880? This book is comprised of 9 lithograph leaves of floral images intended for copying. Neither the leaves nor the images are numbered, with the exception of the 8th leaf, on which is printed: "B. Dondorf in Frankfurt a M. No. 137." The front cover is printed in green. Below the title is printed: "Two pence the book. Considering their finish and beauty of style these are by far the cheapest drawing copies yet introduced." The back cover is lacking.

    Bound volume containing various engraved views of British buildings and landscapes which date from 1716 to 1832. Includes two colored plates depicting designs from Pompeii. The volume includes two complete works: Rider, W. (William) Six views of Warwick and Kenilworth Castles, and of Guy's Cliff. 1828 and Westall, William. Views of the lake and of the vale of Keswick. 1820. Both works have been bound in to the volume with numerous additional views interleaved in their original contents. The two works have been cataloged separately.

    Four drawing books entitled Barnes' Popular Drawing Series, published by A.S. Barnes and Company, New York and Chicago, copyright 1881; numbered 5, 5, 6 and 8. There are 2 copies of Set No. 5; one (in Env. 2) is a set of double-sided looseleaf plates in an envelope; Book No. 5 (Env. 3) is a bound duplicate of Envelope 2 (Box 1), except the plates in the bound copy are single-sided. Book No. 5 contains plates no. 33-40; Book No. 6 contains plates no. 41-48; Book No. 8 contains plates no. 57-64. Each bound book is bound in a light green, decorated and illustrated paper cover, and the inside of each back cover contains additional designs, labeled as Place C in Books 5 and 6, and labeled as Plate D in Book 8. The back cover of each book is titled "Barnes' Popular Drawing" and contains descriptions of several drawing courses available through the company. The outer envelope of the unbound No. 5 has "5-" (price) written in ms., in pencil, on the lower right-hand corner.

This 6-page leaflet is a publisher's advertisement for 3 individual titles and a series of "individual instruction sheets". The titles are: Craftsman's Instruction Handbook; A Handbook of Designs and How to Use Them; and Permodello Modeling (the item is not addressed). Included is an order form. This leaflet is a single sheet, folded into thirds. The dimensions provided are for the folded leaflet.

    One pattern book entitled Designs for Piercing, Chasing and Etching, published by William Dixon Incorporated, Newark, New Jersey, copyright 1937. This book is a looseleaf portfolio of 31 numbered plates, containing "more than two hundred motifs" and a single sheet with prefatory text. There are several plates of images per "series"; the series are entitled: Ornaments, Animals, Birds, Designs, Borders and Initials. A small, vertically-oriented rectangular floral design is centered on the front cover. The back cover, as well as the insides of the covers, are blank.

    Krone's Paragon Series of Drawing Books

    Two drawing books entitled Krone's Paragon Series of Drawing Books, Nos. 2 and 9, revised, published by Krone Bros., New York, copyright 1905. Book no. 2 is 16 pages in length, and is a series of line exercises, progressing from simple, single lines to combinations of lines to construct images such as flowers, patterns and shapes. The front cover of both books are bordered and illustrated, including a life-size pencil diagonally positioned across the cover. The back cover of each contains general directions for drawing, materials needed, and a listing of the titles in the series. The inside of the front and back covers of Book No. 2 provides definitions of terms, with illustrations of those terms. All of the exercises have been filled in by a previous owner. Book No. 9 consists of 8 leaves, each with an image on the upper half of the page and space below for copying. These images include a rabbit, a pig, a horse and a deer. Each of the 8 leaves is protected by a tissue guardsheet. The inside of the front and back covers contain the same definitions, explanations and illustrations as those found in Book No. 2. The cover of Book No. 9 is vertically oriented, in that the cover is lifted from bottom to top, but the interior pages are turned as usual, opening to the left. "Annette Paquin" is written in ms. along the outside of the border in the lower right-hand corner of the front cover of Book No. 9. All of the illustrations have been copied in pencil by a previous owner.
