A typewritten, carbon copy transcription of the journal of Anna Walker edited by Edward Hall; the journal describes her life married to George T. Walker and his career in the British army. The transcription has Hall's autograph notes, additions and corrections; the pages have been trimmed down to different sizes and the page numbering is not consistent with some numbers repeated or skipped. Also included: the original "Perry Instantaneous Binder" and a paper folder with an autograph note by Hall: "Copy 170 2 of Revised version of 1789-1801 period (produced in 1952)."

The manuscript, written by an unknown author, is a list of excerpts from Volumes 1-17 of Rymer's Faedera. The hand is consistent throughout the volume. The binding is Irish. Contemporary crimson morocco, the covers with three rectangular panels within one another, the outermost formed by a double line fillet with a lozenge-shaped floral ornament in each corner and floral ornaments repeated around the outside; the middle panel formed by a chain-roll, and the innermost by a narrow "thistle" roll bordered by a two-line fillet. The whole enclosing a floral center ornament built up with small stamps. Elaborate pale green continental endpapers decorated with birds, cupids, etc., in gold. Catalog description is included.

Horatio Seymour letters

Twenty-five (25) of the letters are written by Horatio Seymour from his home in Utica, New York. They are addressed to various New York politicians including five Governors of New York: John Thompson Hoffman, Samuel J. Tilden, Lucius Robinson, Grover Cleveland, and David B. Hill. Other recipients include President James Buchanan and Canal Commissioner Adin Thayer. The majority of the letters are recommendation letters written by Seymour for various people to obtain various government positions. There is some discussion of New York politics and a letter about charges brought against "Mr. Johnson the Canal Superintendent on this section of the Erie Canal." There is one letter by Senator Francis Kernan to Governor Robinson that includes a handwritten note by Seymour and a letter by John Baxter, Chief of Police of Utica, New York to Governor John Thompson Hoffman asking for a pardon for Thomas Rigney that has note by Horatio Seymour, William J. Bacon, and John F. Seymour. Two letters include notes by New York Congressmen Richard D. Davis and William Fiero Russell.

This collection consists chiefly of magazines containing the first appearances of works by American author Jack London. The collection includes 130 periodicals with London's short stories, serialized versions of his novels, and essays, with the bulk dating from the late 1890s to the 1910s. In addition, there are 20 pieces of ephemera and miscellaneous printed items about London's work and life, including materials prepared by London enthusiasts through the 1970s. The items were compiled by Donald French, a collector of Jack London materials in Northern California. Periodicals: Most of the periodicals contain the first appearances in print of stories by London, and the earliest item in this collection is the September 1897 issue of The Owl containing the story "Two Gold Bricks," followed by 1899 issues of Overland Monthly and The Black Cat. More than thirty periodical titles are represented including Century,Cosmopolitan, McClure's Magazine,Overland Monthly,The Saturday Evening Post, and the Youth's Companion. There are also essays about socialism by London in The Comrade: An Illustrated Socialist Monthly,The Independent, and The International Socialist Review. In addition, there are some writings about London, including biographical writings by London's second wife Charmian London in The Century (1921) and Rose Wilder Lane in Sunset (1917). Ephemera: The 20 pieces of ephemera include pamphlets and printed material related to London's life and work that were primarily produced by London enthusiasts, dating from 1901 to 1976, including a United Artists movie poster for the 1943 film "Jack London" and some later publications of his work, such as a 1951 comic book version of The Sea Wolf.

There is material related to the Huntington, Holladay, and Metcalf families, but most of the collection deals with Huntington's business interests in Southern California, railways, real estate, and industry. Series 2. Henry E. Huntington and his family includes biographical information, newspaper clippings, photographs, scrapbooks, ephemera, and physical objects. There is material related to the Huntington Land and Improvement Company, Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, and the Pacific Electric Railway Company as well as other businesses in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and San Gabriel Valley, California. This material includes business records, account books, annual reports, correspondence, maps, tracts, balance sheets, and others. There is also material related to the founding of the Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens including auction catalogs, invoices, receipts, and bills for art and rare books, and information regarding a lawsuit about Huntington's estate tax after his death, and the passing of Proposition 15, in 1930, which exempted The Huntington from paying California property tax. There is also material related to Collis P. Huntington and his business interests and Arabella Huntington. Also included are the blueprints for the Huntington's San Marino residence. Series 3. Correspondence contains over 22,000 pieces of personal and business correspondence spanning 1794 to 1970. The physical objects include Henry E. Huntington's lunch box, razors, traveling trunk, and other items.
