    One book, copyright 1917, entitled Sketching Methods, by W.C. Sweeney, published by the Government Printing Office, Washington, [D.C]. This pamphlet is 52 numbered pages in length and is intended for military purposes. As listed in the table of contents, some of the topics addressed are: classification of sketches, scales, horizontal detail, vertical detail, notes for field work, outpost sketch, road sketch and reconnaissance sketches. There are a few line-drawing illustrations. "Edited at The Army War College, October, 1917" is printed on the front cover. "Lieut. Rowland S. Night" is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the front cover.

    Manuscript map showing the barracks, stores, support buildings (e.g. hospital, kitchens, bake house, privies) for the Newcastle Barracks in Saint Andrews, Jamaica. An inset map shows the elevation profile of the barracks. The Newcastle military center was constructed in the 1840s under Major General Sir William Maynard Gomm in an effort to reduce the number of yellow fever deaths amongst British troops. The center is still used as a training center for the Jamaican Defense Force.
