One portfolio of painting sheets entitled Box of Pictures to Paint, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York, copyright 1892. This set is comprised of 4 chromolithograph and 5 outline (black and white) plates, housed inside a wood and paperboard box. The front cover/lid of the box is decorated with a vivid chromolithograph of two boys painting together; one is seated on a chair, the other is standing on the same chair. This image, within an oval frame, is surrounded by a blue and gold chromolithographed marble pattern. The title is within a decorative fan above the boys' heads. The back cover of the box is decorated with the same marbling, and contains a centered image of a box of paints, with some water and paintbrushes, on a table. The plates are unnumbered. Some plates are duplicates of one another (one in color and the other in outline, for coloring), and others are a lone color plate or images in outline form. All of the outline plates have been colored in with watercolor. On the inside of the box's lid are printed "A Few Practical Instructions for Young Painters." "Archie F. Jones" is stamped, in blue ink, at the top of this mounted sheet.
