Items include special train schedules (including one printed on silk), a railroad pass; a governmental pass to view and/or accompany the presidential remains; a mourning badge with an original tintype photograph of President Lincoln; and a letter from General Edward D. Townsend, officer in charge of escorting the remains from Washington, DC to Springfield, Ill., written to his wife "Nannie" on April 28 1865, recounting his emotions and experiences. The original compiler of the scrapbook is unknown. It has been attributed to E. D.
