How to Use Plasticine as a Home Amusement
Visual Materials
One booklet entitled How to Use Plasticine as a Home Amusement, compiled and published by the Embossing Company, Albany, New York, copyright 1908. This pamphlet is comprised of 68 illustrated pages which are divided into four sections (following a few pages of introductory matter): Suggestions for Beginners; The 'Designer' Box; The 'Add-a-Bit Game'; and The 'Builder' Box. Each section provides visual and textual instructions for building and creating arts and crafts scenes, objects, etc. with Harbutt's Plasticine. Some suggested projects include animals, people, diorama scenes, houses, and other buildings. The front cover is printed in dark and light green, and features the title created from a plasticine plate. A similar format is on the back cover, which claims Harbutt's Plasticine Add-A-Bit Modelling Game to be "A Parlour Pastime". On the lower left-hand corner of the inside of the front cover is "Press of Brandow Printing Company, Albany, N.Y." The inside of the back cover is a manufacturer's advertisement for Harbutt's Plasticine and several modeling sets of plasticine and tools. The title page notes that The Embossing Company (of) Albany, N.Y. is the "General American Agents for 'Harbutt's Plasticine', manufactured by Wm. Harbutt, A.R.C.A. (Lond.) - Bathampton, Bath, England".
