    Approx. 12 items: a collection of letters and one Pegler column transcript. The bulk of the material deals directly with "the discontinuance of Westbrook Pegler's column in the Times..." but there are no letters, as such, to or from Pegler. All the correspondence deals with reaction to Pegler's shift to a new distributor. He had been with the Scripps - Howard syndicate, he joined King Features Syndicate in September 1944.

    Approx. 10 items: ih-house correspondence related to Pegler ; flyers and booklets prepared by National Maritime Union of America, criticizing Pegler's writings ; letter copy, 5/25/1943, from Franklin Roosevelt to Joseph Curran, Pres., National Maritime Union ; Notice run in LAT, 9/7/1944, opens "Westbrook Pegler will cease writing for The Times Sept. 9 ... His departure, however, is NOT the result of any disagreement between him and this newspaper," and closes "The Times wishes Mr. Pegler well (the complete notice runs approx. 400 words of explanation). Pegler's attitudes were considered by some to be right-wing, even to the degree that he sympathized with Nazism.
