Pure Gold Foil

One book of original drawings entitled Pure Gold Foil, created by Herbert G. Wilcox, ca. 1875. The booklet is 22 unnumbered pages in length, and contains 32 numbered and unnumbered original pencil drawings. This drawing book was originally a blank booklet, the front cover reading "1-8 oz. No. 3 Soft. 1000 Pure Gold Foil. Manufactured by Hood & Reynolds, No. 74 Tremont St., Opp. Tremont House, Boston., J. Hood. S.H. Reynolds." Printed on the back cover is a testimonial of the purity of the gold foil, which is dated 1872. The first 9 leaves of the booklet have been cut out, and the first visible page reads "Gems of Arts." (written in ms.) The pencil drawings are mostly numbered, and include images of animals, people and objects. The last few pages are blank. "Herbert G. Wilcox" is written in ms. on the front cover. "$12-" (price) is written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover.
