The Ferry map, "Carte de la Nouvle, California", ... is in Hypolite Ferry's "Description de la ... Paris, 1850." An Italian version of a map of California that extends east to the Rocky Mountains. Gold regions are shown by dotted areas. Note most of the rivers of that area were well known by 1851. Some Indian tribes of the southwest are designated as Indiani Yumas (ostili - hostile) and Indiani Apachi (cattivi - evil). Considerable text about the region in Italian surrounds the map.
