    Freedom of the Press Exhibit

    A copy of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the opening of the Freedom of the Press Exhibit on February 14, 1980. This exhibit was displayed in the Los Angeles Times building and displayed fifteen historical papers never before publicly seen from the Chicago Public Library's special collection. This exhibit was presented by the Playboy Foundation and displayed papers from the trial of John Peter Zenger. Other items in this folder include a two page press release and four letters of correspondence, one being from Hugh Hefner.

Herald and Express, Kansas City Star, Sacramento Bee (McClatchy Newspapers), St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Editor & Publisher, Berkeley Daily Gazette, and more. Included is a brad-bound booklet, titled "Newspaper clippings... L.A. Bar Assoc. vs. Times..." (deteriorating).
