K-12 Educator Saturday Workshop: Writing Your Story

Moving from Brontë to Butler, participants will examine primary sources from diverse writers before practicing different writing prompts for students and learning creative storytelling techniques to help spark self-expression, communication, and imagination in the classroom.

- Wearing comfortable shoes is recommended. A portion of the workshop involves standing and walking on wood and concrete paths.

- Check-in opens 30 minutes before the start of the workshop.

Aligning California State Standards
- Production and Distribution of Writing: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience.
- Production and Distribution of Writing: Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach.
- Research to Build and Present Knowledge: Draw evidence from literary and/or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research.
- Range of Writing: Write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of tasks, purposes, and audiences.
