- Description
- A Ming dynasty Fahua-type porcelain potiche jar with lapis, turquoise and aubergine glazes. At the foot of the jar is a deep wave border. The design of figures presumably represents the eight immortals; He Xiangu who holds a Lingzhi (fungus), Li Gieguai, who holds a gourd, Zhang Guolao, who holds a bamboo drum, La Dongbin who holds a fly whisk, Lan Caihe, who holds a flower basket, Cao Guoqiu who holds a clapper, Han Ziangzi, who holds a flute, and Zhongli Quan, who holds a bare belly. There are ruyi lappets enclosing flowers sprays on the shoulders of the jar. The lid is carved out of teakwood.
