The photographs attributed to the Smithsonian Institute depict images from President Garfield's Inaguaration and various collection items; a coral reef specimen, Joseph Henry (1797-1878) studio and bedroom, and a Syrian sarcophagus (published and photographed by Bell & Bro.). Other stereoscopic cards include views of Florida, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, a three-story stone building in New England, and the Wisconsin meteorite. Handwritten annotations "Rhees 1945" may refer to the William Jones Rhees papers (mssRH).
