Del Amo family and business records

This collection contains two prospectuses: Rancho San Pedro and Del Amo Industrial Park. It includes an autograph book to Gregorio del Amo, Madrid, 1931. There are also photographs of Colegio Mayor Jaime del Amo in Madrid, Spain. There is one letter from Robert G. Breyer to Jaime del Amo accompanied with four photographs of the Del Amo Center. Finally, the collection includes a newspaper clipping describing how Don Wilson and Milton Kauffman presented a one-million-dollar check to Jaime del Amo as first payment for purchase of the del Amo property on May 15, 1955.

A group of photographs of Henry E. Huntington, Collis P. Huntington and other Huntington family members, and 35 views of the Huntington Library's buildings, grounds, mausoleum, statues and outdoor sculpture in San Marino, California. There are also 4 design drawings of an outdoor sculpture (a tempietto) in the Rose Garden that holds the statue "L'Amour Captif de la Jeunesse" ("Love, Captive of Youth"). There are 15 portraits of Henry E. Huntington at various ages, approximately 1890s-1926, including standing in front of the Library's bronze doors; standing outside the Library with Crown Prince Gustav Adolf and Crown Princess Louise of Sweden, 1926; and sitting at a desk with a group of men standing behind him (photOV 11200-11207.2). There are four photographs of Collis P. Huntington (photOV 11208, 11208.1, 11210, 11249), which includes a view of him walking alongside a train, possibly next to his private railroad car, in 1900 (photOV 11249). Caroline Huntington Holladay, Harriet Huntington Doerr and Leslie Huntington Bramhall are seen at the launching of the S.S. Henry E. Huntington in 1944 (photOV 11209-11209.1), and there are photographs of paintings of Henry E. and Arabella Huntington by Oswald Birley, 1924 (photOV 11206, 11213). Views of the Huntington Library grounds include aerial photographs (approximately 1921); a wrought iron gate; desert garden; lily ponds; road near the Japanese garden; a reservoir; rose garden and arbor; the statues "Love, Captive of Youth" and "Neptune"; a fountain, and the mausoleum. Buildings seen are the Library, in 1920, and four views of the construction of the Huntington residence, approximately 1909-1910, by William Hertrich.

An album of about 200 photographs, 1942 to 1949, compiled by a former Huntington Library employee, Jeannette Carolyn Wilson, containing many snapshots of employees at the library and elsewhere. Subjects include: people standing outside the library; the tea room; aviary building; oak trees; employees playing cards and socializing; staff Christmas parties; snow on the grounds in January, 1949; women with cameras, taking photographs; and library staff loading books to be shipped offsite for safekeeping during World War II. The album also has some personal vacation photographs, a few clippings about the Huntington, and three letters from reference librarian Mary Isabel Fry, some with news of the Huntington. Wilson probably took many of the photographs, and possibly appears in the album. Though most people are unidentified, some recognizable library employees are: Carey Bliss, Leslie Bliss, Lyle H. Wright, Margaret Meracle, Robert Glass Cleland, Mary Isabel Fry, William Parish, Graydon Spalding, and Erwin F. Morkisch.
