  The collection consists of black-and-white photographs of members of La Mariposa Club on outings to destinations in Southern California including Santa Anita Canyon, Eaton Canyon, and the San Gabriel Mission. The last image in the collection depicts a farming scene on the Gilmore Ranch (at the corner of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue) in 1900.

  A photograph album with 101 snapshots depicting outings taken from 1920-1923, chiefly in Southern California and on trips to the High Sierra, Hawaii, and New York City, compiled by California adult education leader Ethel Richardson Allen (1888-1966). Many of the images depict automobile and camping trips and outdoor recreation activities.

  This bound photograph album contains amateur snapshots depicting life in Southern California in the late 1890s. The compiler appears to have been a schoolteacher, and there are several views of school houses (the Los Angeles Normal School and the Lamanda Park schoolhouse), shots of the interior of an elementary school classroom and class, and outings with schoolchildren. There are also images of Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations, camping in the local mountains (including the Echo Mountain trolley), and at the beaches and various cities such as downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena, Redondo, San Gabriel, Lamanda Park, and Catalina. There is a series of views depicting Redondo, California, including beach cottages, the local casino, tent camping, and Biona [Ballona ?] Bay. There are also two images depicting a Chinese vegetable seller and butcher with their delivery wagons. The first part of the album contains handwritten captions.

  Historical Society of Southern California Collection - Henry Family photograph album

  Visual Materials

  The album, one of three depicting the Henry Family of Los Angeles, California, contains 403 snapshots, presumably compiled by Alexander Ellwood Henry (1890-1979) and primarily consisting of group portraits of the Henry family and unidentified individuals between 1907 and 1916. The photographs reflect trips and outings to a variety of locations in California (Santa Catalina Island, Pasadena, Venice, Los Angeles, Big Bear, Yosemite, San Francisco), as well as Niagara Falls, Canada, Europe, and Japan. There are many images of Henry and his friends as teenagers and young adults. Among the images are photographs of Henry's brother Thomas Cecil Henry (died 1910) as a student at Stanford around 1908-1910, the Henry home at 1400 S. Manhattan Place in Los Angeles, and individuals at the beach.

  Carl L. May photograph album of Southern California

  Visual Materials

  A photograph album of snapshots of the life of Carl L. May: his friends, family and associates in Southern California, and his activities at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Includes views of college students in athletic teams (football, rugby, and track and field teams), house parties and group portraits. There are photographs of outings to trails and camps at Mount Wilson, Santa Catalina Island, and Santa Monica. Most of the photographs have handwritten notes identifying the individuals and locations. There are some photographs of May's parents, brother (Harold), and other family members. Scattered throughout the album are small commercial photographs of the Pan Pacific International Exposition in San Francisco in 1915. There are a small number of photographs of sightseeing trips to New York, particularly Buffalo and Niagara Falls. A program for the 1941 U.S.C. Homecoming football dinner, honoring the team of 1916, is mounted at the end.

  Andrew and Violet Neuenburg photograph albums of Sierra Club trips

  This collection contains eight personal photograph albums of young men and women on Sierra Club trips, primarily in Yosemite, the High Sierras, and King's Canyon, California. The albums date from 1904 to 1919, with one dated 1933, and bear the names of A. E. Neuenburg and Violet Ehrman (in later albums, "Mrs. A. E. Neuenburg"). Images include people mountain hiking, fishing, swimming in lakes, camping, and having outdoor picnics and tea parties. There are many images of women throughout, seen individually and in outdoor activities.
