  A slightly elevated panoramic view of the harbor at Avalon, on Santa Catalina Island. There are dozens of unoccupied small boats in the harbor, as well as three small boats with their sails up. There are two tall sailing ships in the harbor, neither of which has their sails up. Avalon stretches back from the shore, with mostly larger buildings closer to the harbor, and smaller residences farther away. Much of the area is wooded, and there are high hills on the far side of Avalon. Writing in white at the bottom reads "Avalon. ; Catalina Island ; 1904."

  A panoramic view of the harbor at Avalon, on Santa Catalina Island. The photograph was taken from somewhere along the northwestern shore of the bay, with the city of Avalon on the far right. There is a boat with a striped canopy and seven or eight people on it being rowed across the center of the image. There are also a few people standing or sitting on the shore. There are several unoccupied small boats on the water, as well as a three mast sailing ship, and few sailboats with their sails up.
