One Japanese pattern book, ca.1898, labeled (or titled?) in Japanese on the cover. Approximately 150 pages in length, the small book appears to contain Japanese symbols, patterns and words. The pages are unnumbered. The item is bound in yellow paper overlaying embossed paper. "Owned and Given Compliments of Arthur W. Dow" is said to be written on the pink paper label affixed to the front cover. (per DK). Title supplied by cataloger.

The drawings are undated and unsigned. Tissue paper guard sheets are bound in between each of the leaves. An accompanying not from DK reads, in part, "After Coe drawing cards?" Drawing Book of Butterflies

One drawing book entitled Drawing Book of Butterflies, published by (compliments of) L.M. Brock & Co., Lynn, Massachusetts, ca. 1910. This drawing book is a promotional piece for Mrs. Dinsmore's Cough and Croup Balsam. It contains 8 pages of black and white images of butterflies and tracing paper in front of each page, for copying. The front and back covers are chromolithographs; the front cover features several butterflies and paint brushes, the back cover image is a little girl in a pink hat, standing next to a vase of roses. The inside front and back cover feature promotional and advertising text. Some of the images have been traced onto the tracing paper, and some of the traced and original images have been colored in with crayons.

One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Drawing and Tracing Book: Children at Play, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York, copyright 1898. The cover title is Drawing and Tracing Book: Children at Play. This book is comprised of 8 plates of lithograph images. There are no sheets of tracing paper in this volume. The publisher's statement is printed in the lower right-hand corner of the front cover: "Copyright 1898, McLoughlin Bros., New York." The back cover reads: "First Lessons in Drawing for Children", with a "No. 81" printed below it. Below these words is a floral decoration. The chromolithograph illustration on the front cover is of a young child, wearing a white cap and a white dress, holding a wooden spoon. The illustrations inside have been painted in with watercolors. "Marion Terry" is written in ms., in crayon, within the book.

One drawing book of original drawings entitled Drawing Book, created by Anna Warner in 1870. The book was manufactured by Nison, Phinney, Blakeman & Co., New York. The book is 10 leaves in length, and contains original pencil drawings, some of which are labeled. The book is bound in a yellow paper cover, and the front cover is illustrated with a lithograph scene of two men, one of whom is drawing and the other is painting. This scene is framed by large drapes held open by cherubs. Most of the pencil drawings are of building structures and houses; DK's accompanying note describes them as "formula drawings, with personal labels; 'our house'; 'our school house'." "Anna E. Warner, Batania [?] Drawing Book, N. York, Sep. 1, 1870." is written in ms. on the inside front cover and at the top of the front cover.
