    One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Drawing and Tracing Book: Boats and Houses, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York, copyright 1898. The cover title reads: Drawing and Tracing Book. This book is comprised of 8 lithograph plates of images for tracing and drawing, with 8 leaves of tracing paper bound in. The front cover is a chromolithograph image of a boy and a girl in a rowboat. Both are wearing hats, and the little boy is rowing like a gondolier. The back cover is a green and white mesh pattern. The images for tracing are of various types of boats and houses. "81" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. None of the images have been traced or copied. "Bertie from Emily Jan. 11-1911" is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper left-hand corner of the title page. "2.50" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.

    One drawing book entitled Little Darlings' Drawing Book, published by Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd., London, ca. 1900. The chromolithograph image on the front cover shows a young girl, with a rabbit in her lap, drawing in a book; the lower-left corner bears the series title Father Tuck's Little Artists' Series. The back cover features a girl running next to a hoop. The company's trademark and "No. 3625" are in the lower left-hand corner above design and printing locations--England and Germany, respectively. The book has 16 pages of outline images, and tracing paper overlays. The images depict children at play, or are scenes from children's stories and are variously signed "MB", "EH". "M Bowley" or "Edith Taylor"; some are unsigned. Seven of the outline images have been filled in using colored pencils or crayons; others have been traced. Across the top of the front cover, the name "Miss Hazel Wheeler" has been written in pencil. Inside the front cover, also in pencil, is "Hazel Wheeler. Christmas 1904." On the back cover, in the upper right-hand corner, is a price sticker with "8--" written in ink.

    Two drawing books of original and copied drawings entitled Drawing Book, For Copies, one created by Carrie Cooley, the other by Mattie Cooley, manufactured by John Marsh, Manufacturing Stationer and Importer, Boston, ca. 1855. Each book is 12 unnumbered leaves in length and contains pencil drawings copied from other sources. Both books have illustrated front covers; a delicate and elaborate floral frame surrounds the title and a vignette of a steam engine train. The back covers are manufacturer's advertisements. The drawing book in Env. 42 is bound in green paper, and "Carrie Cooley" is written in ms., in pencil, on the front cover. The drawing book in Env. 43 is bound in beige paper, and "Mattie [?] Cooley" is written in ms., in pencil, on the front cover, as well as in ink in the upper right-hand corner. Tissue paper guard sheets are bound in between each of the leaves in both books.

    One drawing book of original drawings, untitled, created by Anna Carpenter, ca. 1845? The book is 24 unnumbered leaves in length, and contains both original and (presumably) copied pencil drawings. The first few pages are exercises of lines and shapes, and the remaining pages include images of trees, houses, landscapes, and fences. Tissue paper guard sheets are bound in between the leaves. "Anna Carpenter" is written in ms. in the upper left-hand corner of the inside front cover. "10.00" (price) is written in ms., below it. The accompanying note written by DK reads in part: "Amazing progression in one book." Title supplied by cataloger.

    One drawing/painting book, ca. 1905, entitled Little Folks' Painting and Drawing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York. This book is 32 unnumbered pages in length and is comprised of chromolithograph and black and white lithographs in outline form for coloring. The front cover features an image of two children wrapping a gift box. "0701, McLoughlin Bros. N.Y." is printed in the lower left-hand corner beneath the image. The back cover is not illustrated, but the paper is decorated in a simple pattern. "Directions" are printed on the front pastedown, and the title page is illustrated with a black and white image of a boy painting a fence. All of the illustrations are of animals; some have been colored. A ms. inscription in ink is on the title page. "2.-" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.

    One drawing book entitled A New Series of First Class Drawing Copies, published by J. Cooke & Sons, London, ca. 1880? This book is comprised of 7 lithograph plates intended for copying. Each of the plates, with one exception, contains two images. The image on the left-hand side is a picture in outline, and the image on the right is that same image, but complete with shading and texture. The one exception is a full-page illustration that is already complete with shading and texture. The front and back covers are printed in red. The title on the front cover is within a decorative frame. The back cover features a vignette of 3 children who are drawing. "10--" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the first page.
