One painting and drawing book entitled Little Folks' Painting and Drawing, published by Charles E. Graham & Co., New York, ca. 1900. The series title is 0701--Paint Book Series. The front cover of the book shows a little girl holding a palette of watercolors in one hand and a page of her paintings in the other. The back cover repeats the title of the book and features an image of two children asleep in a meadow and watched by four rabbits. The book contains twelve images, some printed in outline, others color printed to show color schemes. Most of the outlined images have been filled in with wax crayon. In the upper right-hand corner of the front cover in pencil is "50 [cents] 6448".

Easy Drawing for Little Ones

One manufacturer's advertisement/drawing book entitled Easy Drawing for Little Ones, published by Fleischmann Co., New York, ca. 1885?. This 8-page promotional drawing booklet contains an illustrated "story" of a little girl who makes bread using Fleischmann's yeast. Each page contains a few lines of rhyming text. Bound in between the images are leaves of tracing paper. The chromolithographed front cover features an image of a young girl and boy who are making bread. "No. 16" is printed in the lower right-hand corner of the front cover. The insides of the front and back cover contain advertising text for Fleischmann's yeast, as does the back cover. Some of the images have been traced.

Little Folks' Painting and Drawing Book

One drawing/painting book, ca. 1905, entitled Little Folks' Painting and Drawing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York. This book is 32 unnumbered pages in length and is comprised of chromolithograph and black and white lithographs in outline form for coloring. The front cover features an image of two children wrapping a gift box. "0701, McLoughlin Bros. N.Y." is printed in the lower left-hand corner beneath the image. The back cover is not illustrated, but the paper is decorated in a simple pattern. "Directions" are printed on the front pastedown, and the title page is illustrated with a black and white image of a boy painting a fence. All of the illustrations are of animals; some have been colored. A ms. inscription in ink is on the title page. "2.-" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.

The Young Artist's Painting and Drawing Book

One drawing/painting book, ca. 1915, entitled The Young Artist's Painting and Drawing Book, by F. I. Wetherbee, published by M. A. Donohue & Co., Chicago. This book is comprised of 44 unnumbered pages of chromolithograph and outline illustrations for painting. The front cover is a chromolithograph of a seated child who is painting at an easel. "M.A. Donohue & Co., Chicago" is printed in the lower left-hand corner. The back cover illustration is of a girl on a low seat reading a book. "Directions for the Little Artist" are printed on the front pastedown, opposite the title page. A few descriptive lines are printed below the title: "Being a collection of the most artistic color schemes ever produced in an instructive painting book, teaching accuracy, harmony, beauty and color with pencil, paint and brush. Complete instructions for the little artist." Most, but not all, of the images appear in pairs, one colored and the other in outline form, for coloring. Some of the illustrations have been colored.

One drawing/painting book, ca. 1910, entitled Drawing and Painting Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., Springfield, Massachusetts. This book is 24 unnumbered pages in length, and contains illustrations for coloring. The front cover is a chromolithograph illustration of a girl reading a book while imaginary fairies and butterflies fly around her. "Made in U.S.A. McLoughlin Bros. Inc., Springfield, Mass." is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The back cover is a chromolithograph image of a jar of paintbrushes and several jars of paint. The title page features an illustration of young Dutch children and descriptive text beneath the title: "A Drawing and Painting Book designed according to the best art methods of starting with simple design and color and progressing to more advanced subjects." Some of the illustrations are in pairs, with one printed in color and the other in outline form, which was meant for coloring. Included are images of people, buildings and animals. Some of the images have been colored with crayon or watercolor.

This book is comprised of 8 lithograph plates of images for tracing and drawing, with 8 leaves of tracing paper bound in. The front cover is a chromolithograph image of a boy and a girl in a rowboat. Both are wearing hats, and the little boy is rowing like a gondolier. The back cover is a green and white mesh pattern. The images for tracing are of various types of boats and houses. "81" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. None of the images have been traced or copied. "Bertie from Emily Jan. 11-1911" is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper left-hand corner of the title page. "2.50" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.
