One advertisement entitled The Art of Seeing: Woodbury Course in Observation, Summer School, published by Woodbury Training School, Brookline, Massachusetts, 1930. This 4-page leaflet is a brochure for summer art courses. "Sixth year. ... June thirtieth to July twelfth, Boston, Mass. ; July fifteenth to thirty-first, Ogunquit, Maine" is printed below the title on the first page, which is also illustrated with an ink drawing of a seascape. The interior 2 pages list the staff, course calendar and other information about the summer courses. On the last page is information about the philosophy and principles of the program.

One drawing book entitled The Prang Elementary Course in Art Instruction, Eastern Edition, published by The Prang Educational Company, Boston, New York and Chicago, copyright 1899. The subtitle reads: Description, Specimen Illustrations from different grades and Opinions of leading Supervisors and Teachers. This 40-page book is primarily a collection of written testimonials about the Prang drawing system. Pages 3-6 are devoted to an outline and explanation of the system and its various levels and courses, and the remaining pages are excerpts from letters of praise from art teachers in the U.S., illustrated with both images from the Prang instructional drawing books and samples of artwork created using the Prang courses. The first two pages are composed of illustrations. The front cover is illustrated in the upper left-hand corner with a small, rectangular image of three daffodils. On the inside of the front cover begins "European Opinions in Regard to the Prang Course", which continues onto the inside back cover and the back cover. "2- BDF as is" (price) written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the first page.

One pamphlet entitled Industrial Drawing in Public Schools: A Course of Three Lectures Addressed to the Principals and Teachers of the Primary, Grammar, and High Schools of the City of Boston, by Walter Smith, published by L. Prang and Company, Boston, 1875. Also on the title page is printed "Published by Request." This book is 54 numbered pages in length, and is divided into 3 sections, one for each of the three school levels. Each section addresses issues relevant to the teaching of drawing and industrial drawing in the schools. A few white-on-black reproductions of drawing cards from the Smith system are included in the book. The insides of both covers, as well as the back cover, are blank.

Two drawing books entitled American Text Books of Art Education: Intermediate Course, Numbers One and Three, by Walter Smith, published by L. Prang & Company, Boston, 1875. Each book contains 20 numbered pages, and numbered exercises. Each exercise consists of very brief instructional text, an image, and space for copying. In Book One, many of the exercises focus on patterns, shapes and designs made from lines and shapes. Book Three focuses more on replication of forms, such as vases, drinking glasses and solids. Some of the exercises in the books have been completed by previous owners. The front covers of each bear the decorative symbol often used on the front covers of Smith instructional books. The inside front cover of Book One contains definitions of terms used throughout the book. The inside back cover gives general directions for the student and teacher, and lists the "principles of design illustrated" in the book. On the back cover is a descriptive outline of the Smith drawing course for the four levels of schools. The inside of the front cover of Book Three contains general use directions and illustrated definitions of "geometrical solids defined and described." On the inside of the back cover are: "Elementary principles to be taught and observed in model and object drawing: freehand." The back cover contains the same outline of the Smith system for the public schools as Book One. "Lutie Tompkins" is written in ms., in ink, along the top of the front cover of Book One. "McDonald" is written in ms., in ink, on the front cover of Book Three.

A Critical Review of the Prang Course in Form-Study and Drawing, by Arnold Dodel, with an introduction by Louis Prang, published by The Prang Educational Company, Boston, ca. 1890. This pamphlet is 36 numbered pages in length, and is not illustrated. The 9-page introduction is signed by Louis Prang, and is dated March 1, 1890. "University Press: John Wilson and Son, Cambridge" is printed on the verso of the title page.

One half of a flyer from the Booth Bay Studios Summer School of Art, 1935. This advertisement is illustrated on one side, and the other lists (presumably) classes offered and instructional staff. Half of this sheet is missing, so only some of the instructional staff is listed. Below the staff list is a small registration card pre-addressed to: "Frank Allen, Director, 27 Fairmount St., Brookline, Mass."
