One set of art reproductions entitled The Seaside in Art, by Pedro J. Lemos, published by The School Arts Magazine, The Davis Press, Worcester, Massachusetts, 1922. A portfolio of 16 numbered plates of various images of the ocean, ships, fish, shells, etc. comprise the set, which is accompanied by an 8-page introduction by Pedro J. Lemos. Each numbered plate contains a few lines of descriptive or explanatory text below the images. The represented artworks are by various artists. "The Seaside in Art" is printed in the upper left-hand corner of each plate, along with a category in the upper right-hand corner: Plates 1-2 Marine Painting; Plate 3 Outdoor Sketches; Plate 4 Wave Studies; Plate 5 The Sea Coast; Plate 6 Decorative Composition; Plate 7 Sea Scenes; Plate 8 Seaweeds; Plate 9 Shell Fish Designs; Plate 10 Sea Shell Designs; Plate 11 Decorative Fish; Plate 12 Applied Fish Designs; Plate 13 Ship Designs; Plate 14 Ship Designs; Plate 15 Applied Sea Designs; Plate 16 Applied Ship Designs. The plates are housed in an illustrated folder. A blind embossed letter "S" (Mabel Spofford) is stamped at the top of each of the plates.

One set of art reproductions entitled Artist's Scrap Book, arranged by Pedro J. Lemos, published by The School Arts Magazine, Davis Press, Worcester, Massachusetts, 1929. This portfolio of art reproductions is comprised of 104 numbered plates and an illustrated publisher's advertisement for the portfolio. Each of the plates contain numerous images of artworks by a variety of artists. Each plate is numbered and the images are grouped and labeled by category. Some of the categories included are: Hillside Houses, Decorative Trees, Fantastic Figures, Busy Women, Feminine Activities, Colonial People, Figure Groups, Children of the Eighties, Foreign Lands, Birds, Animals, and Flowers. "Courtesy of the Ladies' Home Journal" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of each plate. The set of plates is housed within an illustrated paperboard folder; a paper label containing the contents list is mounted to the inside of the front cover. "Mabel Spofford" is written in ms., in pencil, on some of the plates.

Typescript letter from Nancy J. Kelleher

One typescript letter from Nancy J. Kelleher, addressed to 'The Art Teacher', dated May 23, 1949. The letter is a form letter that provides briefly summarized results of a previous survey issued to Massachusetts art teachers. It is presumed that the author of the letter is associated with an unnamed association. The letter is folded into thirds, and is laid into an accompanying envelope that is addressed to "Art Director, Gloucester High School, Gloucester, Mass." "Survey Report" is written in pink pencil across the top of the envelope. It is presumed that this letter belonged to Mabel Spofford. Title supplied by cataloger.

Also accompanying this leaflet is a mailing envelope addressed to "Miss Mabel Spofford, Supervisor of Drawing, Public Schools, Gloucester, Mass."

The smaller of the two is a postcard-size advertisement, printed on both sides of the sheet. This piece contains an abstract of the book, and a listing of the contents and an order form on the other side. The book is advertised for $2.25. The second publisher's advertisement is 2 typescript pages (single-sided), on "Appleton Book Chat" letterhead. These two sheets contain a quotation/reprint of a book review of the same book from a December 1929 issue of Teacher's Chronicle, as well as several endorsement quotations from various art teachers.
