The Cambria was transferred, 1 January 1923, from London and North Western Railway, following the creation of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway Company (LMS) as a result of the British Railway Act of 1921 which consolidated individual companies in larger units; the vessel operated for LMS until 1 January 1948 when LMS was fully nationalized and added to the British Transport Commission.
