  Glass plate with a view of a horse-drawn parade float in an unknown location. There are two men in white outfits, each standing next to a pair horses that is draped in white with feathery horns behind their ears. Two young men, one in an army uniform, one in a navy uniform, are seated on the white float, holding a rifle, which they have crossed in front of a woman or statue of a woman draped in the American flag. There are children with bicycles on the side of the tree-lined street and a car partially blocked by the float.

  Rose Bowl Game, Penn State University and University of Southern California, Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena. January 1, 1923

  Visual Materials

  A slightly elevated panoramic view of the 1923 Rose Bowl Game between Penn State University and the University of Southern California at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. The stands are almost filled, with the exception of some of the higher areas on the far side of the stadium. Small groups of what appear to be military men are seated on chairs on the track surrounding the field. The game is in progress, with the two teams in the middle of a series at the near 30 yard line. There are men positioned at several places along the near sideline with photographic cameras, and one man near midfield has a motion picture camera. There is a very tall flag pole on the far right with a large American flag. Writing in white in the bottom left corner reads "The Aerograph Co."
