    A full-length studio portrait of an unidentified young girl resting her right forearm on the back of a simple wooden chair. The girl looks like she is about 8 to 12 years old, and is wearing a plaid patterned dress that reaches just past her knees. She is wearing dark boots that lace up about two-thirds of the way to her knees, a pearl-like necklace, and a band that holds her parted hair back.

    A half-length oval-shaped studio portrait of Mrs. Marie Ockershauser , wife of Frederick Ockershauser of the 69th Ohio Infantry Regiment, with her right hand at her waist. Her hair is parted in the center, with a beaded headband sitting high on her head. Ockershauser is wearing a dark top with small white fringe at the collar and several layers of ruffles at the cuff, and is wearing a plaid skirt. Her cheeks have been tinted pink. The image is inside a gilt setting, accompanied by a carrying case with a beaded image of a lyre on one side.

    Brooch and earrings are hand-colored gold. Photographer: Marcellus Kertson, New York. Stamped on mat: "Kertson 421 Broadway. Cor. Canal St. N.Y." Date based on years photographer operated at this address. A paper illustration of Abraham Lincoln and his son Tad had been placed in the frame over the image; the ambrotype was found underneath.
