Description: A bust-length studio portrait of Union Major Edmund DeBuck (or De Buck) turned partially to the left. DeBuck has a full but neatly trimmed beard and mustache, and is almost completely bald on top of his head, with hair around the sides. "J. Cremer & Co., artists, No. 18 South Eighth Street, Philadelphia." is stamped in black on the verso. There is a green three cent stamp with a portrait of George Washington attached to the verso.

Schwartz is wearing a hat, has a neatly trimmed mustache, a clean-shaven chin, and muttonchops that reach past his collar.
