A collection of photographs documenting miner Robert S. Watt and family living in the mountains of Los Angeles County at the turn of the 20th century. Views show daily activities and places visited; people hunting and living in cabins; horses; and a few group portraits, such as Los Angeles County Hospital Nurses on a picnic (1905) with names written on back. Other views show ships and a harbor, possibly in San Pedro, California; Los Angeles buildings (Plaza Church and County Courthouse) and oil wells. Mining scenes include the Watt Mines Supply Co. building in Los Angeles; men at an excavation; stamp mill machinery; a man standing at entrance to mine; and mule teams with supplies. There is also a group of photographs of Alaska, showing trappers, roadhouses, scenery, and a miner staking a claim on a river. There are also two U.S. citizenship certificates for Robert S. Watt (1890) and Alexander Barrie (1901), emigrants from Scotland.

Collection of photographs taken mainly between December 1890 and September 1891 by naturalist Theodore S. Palmer and fellow United States Department of Agriculture scientists, collecting flora and fauna in California. Areas covered include the Antelope, Owens, and San Joaquin valleys and Death Valley. The Death Valley photographs are by Palmer, San Francisco chronicle reporter William C. Burnett, and New York correspondent John R. Spears (the latter, on a second expedition in December 1891).

The Harold A. Parker Studio Collection of Negatives consists of 5157 glass plate negatives, film negatives, and panoramic negatives, 1889-1949, that depict commercial, residential and landscape sites in and around Pasadena and Southern California. The images provide a look at the commercial, residential and social development of Pasadena and surrounding areas during the early years of the twentieth century. The collection is especially rich in images of residential architecture in Pasadena, Altadena, and San Marino; images of Lake Tahoe; depictions of, and activities at, the Raymond, Maryland, and Huntington Hotels in Pasadena; and the commercial, social and cultural landscapes of Pasadena. The collection also provides, through its breadth and depth of subject matter, an example of the career activities of a commercial photographer in Southern California in the early years of the twentieth century.
