This early view of the interior of the Borel Hydro Plant shows the five original generators installed when the plant was built. Subsequently modernized, the Borel Plant remains in operation today.

The Borel Hydro Plant was built by a subsidiary of the Pacific Light and Power Company. Named for Antoine Borel, an early business associate of Henry Huntington, the plant provided electricity to Huntington's growing trolley and utilities business in Southern California from 1904.
