Shaver's lumber company depended upon a 60-mile-long flume to float cut lumber to the finishing mill and drying yards at Clovis. Portions of the flume traversed some spectacular scenery, such as at Rocky Point, on the flanks of Musick Mountain. Although abandoned as long ago as 1917, one section of flume still survives today.
