    Microfilm of original diary containing three distinct sections. The first, 102 pages, deals with Henry William Miller's mission to the Cherokee and Creek Nations in Oklahoma. The next section consists of a short journal entry, 14 pages, of Elmira Pond Miller that describes her life and her Mormon experience.The last part, 10 pages, describes a vision that Elmira experienced in 1889 of writing that appeared in the air from her deceased husband. Additionally there are 4 pages of notes that tally the number of descendents of Henry William Miller and his wife. There is also a 2 page index to the diary.

    Typescript of Amasa Lyman's journal, identified as Journal #16, with entries spanning the years from 1857-1863. The first part describes Lyman's travels from April 18, 1857, to July 2, 1857, along the California Road and Indian Trail from the Rio Virgin. It continues with his participation in an exploratory party that traveled south from Cedar City, Utah, to Las Vegas, the Vegas Fort, and the Mojave Desert from January-May 1858, and also charts its return to Salt Lake City. References are made to Hyatt's war with the Apaches and Lyman's encounters with an Indian chief he calls Oat-sen-a-wantz. The final section of the diary, kept from December 1862 to April 1863, describes Lyman's daily life near Farmington, Utah, including his attendance of the local theatre, a listing of the books he was reading, and his encounters with John Taylor. Includes a description of the original diary.

    Microfilm of David Lewis' notes while serving as an Indian agent for Brigham Young on the Parley P. Pratt exploring trip to Southern Utah and from an 1855 trip he was called on to search the mountains of northern and central Utah for minerals used in glazing. In both instances Lewis describes his travel and exploration, recording the ordinary occurrences of each day in addition to noting experiences with Native Americans. Of particular interest is Lewis' 22-page dictionary of an unidentified Native American language.

    Microfilm of diaries and notes kept by Phillip Margetts during his missions to England (1857-1861; 1891) and South Africa (1862). The first volume is a notebook kept during his 1857-1859 mission to England, and much of it consists of pages of poems, notes (including a list of cities visited), accounts, and drafts of letters. A second 1891 diary briefly recounts a second mission to England. It is followed by a detailed autobiography and diary of the 1857-1858 mission to England and a final volume of Margett's 1861 mission to England, which also includes a diary kept while he was sailing on the Sidney in 1862 to South Africa, where he spent time in Mowbray, Port Elizabeth, and Oliphants Hoek.

    Microfilm of a diary kept by Moses Farnsworth during his British mission from 1862-1864. The diary opens with a detailed account of his travels from Salt Lake City to New York and sailing to Liverpool. The rest of the diary recounts his mission work and attendance of church conferences, primarily in Sunderland, Newcastle, and Dudley. At the back of the volume is a list of mission fund contributors.

    Microfilm of the diary of Benjamin Chamberlain Critchlow, covering 1886-1887. In brief entries, Critchlow describes his daily activities and travels, including to Cache, Ogden, St. George, Millville, Pleasant View, and Logan. Also included is an autobiography by Critchlow that describes his family history, move to Nauvoo in 1844, mob violence against Mormons in 1845, his overland travels to Utah in 1851, and various experiences in Utah.
