Largely based on Heinrich Steinhöwel's treatise on the plague, first printed in Ulm in 1473. Entire passages are copied verbatim. Printed on Chancery-size paper, measuring 28.8 x 20.4 cm. In double columns with 42 lines and headline to a full page; col. width: 6.5 cm.; area of text: 20.6 (21.6) x 13.7 cm. With many ornamental printed initials, some initial spaces with guide-letters, and printed fists in margins; without catchwords. Includes 23 woodcut illustrations (many repeated) of various sizes, which generally depict doctors in consultation with each other and at patients' bedsides. Cf. Schramm. Signatures: A⁴ B-G⁶. Huntington Library copy has "doch vnderwegen liess vnd" in the colophon. Initials and rubrication in red. Binding: stiff vellum.
