Visual Materials
A panoramic photograph depicting the funeral of Japanese American Otoji Hara, who once worked as a superintendent at a tuna cannery on Terminal Island. The image was taken at Sunnyside Cemetery in Long Beach, California, and shows a large group of mourners made up of men, women, and children, facing the camera, with the casket in the middle. The scene includes a long line of flower wreaths with ribbons in Japanese, and several oil derricks feature prominently in the background. The print is captioned in Japanese and is signed Ninomiya, L.A., a photography studio founded by Kinso Ninomiya in 1922.
