Diagram of woods used in the Shakespeare bookcase

Diagram made to document the placement of the wood from 40 buildings or historic places associated with the life or works of William Shakespeare which were used in the construction of the Shakespeare bookcase. The diagram shows the front and a cross-section of the bookcase and has a handwritten key to the placement of the woods and their origins. The bookcase was made in 1890 by James Plucknett of Warwickshire, England for W.C. Prescott, a noted collector of Shakespeareana. The diagram was framed and displayed on the wall next to the bookcase until December 2020 when it was removed and imaged. A digital print facsimile is now on display in its place.
