The appearance of the south façade of the house supports the date estimate, since there are not yet any vines on the wall - in later years they would conceal nearly all of the southern exposure. The label that accompanies this photo in the album reads "No. 17 Henry E. Huntington residence photo taken from foot of hill, about 1911."

Note the lack of vines, topiaries, statues, and decorative urns - possibly taken shortly after the house was constructed? MS note on verso reads: "HEH residence: terrace."
