Hubble include manuscripts and reprints of his articles, papers, public lectures, addresses, etc., scientific documentation for his papers, logbooks of photographic plates taken by Hubble at Mount Wilson and Palomar Observatories, diaries and biographical memoirs of his wife Grace Burke Hubble, professional, personal, and social correspondence, photographs, medals and awards, a scrapbook assembled by Grace Hubble, newspaper clippings, etc.

    Handmade photo album containing eight (8) black-and-white photographs of Edwin Hubble's black cat, Nicolas Copernicus, dated 1947. Photographs by Alfred Parish and Maxine Parish. The album is composed of front and back decorated covers, two title pages, and six (6) pages of photographs of the cat, Nicolas. The insides of the front and back covers also contain photographs of the cat, for a total of eight (8) photos. These photos were taken at the Hubble's residence in San Marino, California in 1947. The album appears to be a gift to the Hubbles from the photographers, Alfred and Maxine Parish. Description of front cover: The front cover is decorated with a Christmas theme: gold-stamped bells, ribbon and angels against a white background (possibly wrapping paper) with "Merry Christmas" added in red with black outlines, and hand-drawn holly leaves in green. The album is bound with a red cellophane ribbon and tied into a bow through two holes along the spine. Description of inside front cover: Blurry, cut-out black and white photo, a head- and- shoulders portrait of Nicolas the cat. The photo is mounted on gray paper, which is then mounted on the green cover. Blue hand-watercolored border. Title page 1: Hand-lettered "The life and times of" against a green and blue hand-watercolored background, on off-white paper. Title page 2: Hand-lettered "Nicolas Hubble Esq. by Maxine and Alfred Parish 1947" against a green and blue hand-watercolored background, on off-white paper. Album page 1: Square black and white photo of Nicolas Copernicus, Edwin Hubble's cat, on a sunny lawn at the Hubble's residence in San Marino, Calif. Album page 6: Square black and white photo of Maxine Parish holding Edwin Hubble's cat, Nicolas Copernicus. Maxine is standing in the yard, and is wearing a woven skirt suit with jacket. The cat is in a vertical position, held by Maxine. Photo is surrounded by a hand-watercolored decorative border in blue, green and red, with black outlines. In the lower right-hand corner below the photo is "Maxine & N." in ms. Inside back cover: Square black and white photo of Edwin Hubble's cat, Nicolas Copernicus, at his residence in San Marino, Calif. The cat is in the yard, and appears to be running with a long white string in its mouth. Shrubbery visible in the background. Photo is mounted on gray paper, which is mounted on green paper. A hand-decorated blue border surrounds the page. Back cover: The back cover of the photo album bears the same decorative paper as the front cover: gold-stamped holiday bells and angels against a white background. Red cellophane ribbon for binding is visible.
