    Maynard L. Parker negatives, photographs, and other material consists of 57,893 black-and-white negatives, color transparencies, black-and-white prints, and color prints; 39 presentation albums; and 17 boxes of office records, 1930-1974. Created primarily by Maynard Parker, the archive documents the residential and non-residential work of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, artists, builders, real estate developers, and clients associated with these fields, foremost among them the magazine House Beautiful. Also included in the collection are photographs taken by other individuals, such as architect Cliff May and Parker's assistant, Charles Yerkes.

    Photographs of Norfolk, Nebraska, and the Norfolk Beet Sugar Factory

    Visual Materials

    A disbound album of 101 photographs of the town of Norfolk, Nebraska, showing residences, businesses and civic buildings, and focusing on the activities at the Norfolk Beet Sugar Factory. Several images show men and children working inside the beet sugar factory, while some show men, women, and children harvesting beets. More than two dozen photographs show the exteriors of houses in the town, some with people standing on the porches or front lawns. Two photographs show sod houses made of rough bricks and sod. In addition to street views of several city blocks and exterior views of buildings including the Nebraska State Hospital for the Insane at Norfolk, hotels, the high school, train depot, fire department, and commercial store fronts (with one building showing a sign for "Tillotson & Thompson Photograph Gallery"). There are also interior images of a clothing store, a dried goods store, a horse tack store, a shoe store, a jewelry story, and a butcher shop.
